Since 1993 Robert S. Cruikshank Landscape Contractor has been transforming our client’s gardens into their dream landscapes.
Please spend some time enjoying of a selection of the projects we are most proud of. We hope you take inspiration from the images of relaxing sanctuaries, drought tolerant ecosystems and delightful outdoor entertainment spaces that we have turned from plans to reality.
Berkeley Garden
This stunning Zen Garden in Berkeley is both functional and low maintenance. The owners wanted to have the Japanese style woodworking to flow out into their garden. They are really happy with the finished project.
Montclair Hillside Garden
We created a beautiful, tranquil space that is easy to walk through from a sloping and unusable backyard. We installed a deck, dry stacked rock walls, rock steps, and gorgeous drought tolerant plantings.
Pt Richmond Zen Garden
This beautiful garden was featured in the 2009 Sunset Garden book, “Backyards, A Sunset Design Guide (pages 60 and 61).” The use of rock and decorative gravel combined with select sculpture and plantings makes for a very peaceful setting from which to enjoy panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Piedmont Front Garden: Before and After
We transformed a rather boring front entry with a broken concrete walkway and a thirsty lawn into a beautiful and functional entry using Connecticut Blue Full Range flagstone and drought tolerant plantings. This garden won an Achievement Award in 2011 from the California Landscape Contractors Association San Francisco East Bay Chapter. “Robert and his crew […]
Back Yard Garden for Alameda Victorian
Our clients wanted direct access from the elevated first floor of their Victorian home down to their garden for secluded entertaining and an ideal spot in which their future children could play. We installed a well-crafted garden that echoes the sensibility of their home’s beautiful architecture. Read the client’s testimony. “Robert Cruikshank and Arthur Brito […]
Albany Modern Garden
Our clients wanted an up to date and usable landscape to match the aesthetics of their newly remodeled home. Modern touches include Corten steel planters, new fenced and gates with trellises, new flagstone in a mosaic pattern patio, gravel patio with portable gas fire pit, and a drought tolerant, native grass lawn.
El Cerrito Entry Garden
On this project we created a front entry to the home that is both functional and beautiful. This garden in El Cerrito combines the contemporary look of rock and brick mixed with beautiful drought tolerant plantings. The garden has been photographed by Better Homes and Gardens magazine to be used in a future article on […]
Piedmont Entry Garden
The new landscape includes Connecticut Blue Full Range steps and patio, Napa Basalt walls, MacNear Red Hills brick steps and patio, and classic plantings. This garden won First Place for Custom Residential Installation in 2004 from the California Landscape Contractors Association San Francisco East Bay Chapter.
Drought Tolerant Orinda Garden
After a full day of work, this Orinda couple can return to this beautiful drought tolerant garden and begin to relax as they enter their home. This garden features symmetry, simplicity, and beauty.
